BaseCamp PopUp reinvents the tradition of the
Locarno Film Festival as a meeting place. Here
you’ll discover fascinating personalities and
emerging creative realities in the world of cinema
and beyond. It’s an ideal place to experience
the Festival program more intensely, where
you can also have a drink and a small bite.
The BaseCamp PopUp is located in the heart of Locarno. Every day from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. come and discover our installations, performances, talks and events.
Follow us on Instagram for daily updates on the program and to enjoy original creations by young artists.
In addition to hosting events, talks, parties and being a meeting place at the heart of the Festival, BaseCamp PopUp will also be a space of creation and presentation for upcoming artists. Over the course of the festival, a series of installations will pop up and enrich the BaseCamp experience.
With the support of The Bally Foundation and Fondazione Guastalla we are happy to delve into the current art space with the inauguration of a series of forward-looking installations by upcoming artists who are working in and around Switzerland.
Play Suisse and BaseCamp are both devoted to the exploration of unusual and imaginative new formats of narration. For this year’s collaboration, we embark on an experiment: can a multidisciplinary and continuous narration be created on Instagram?
During the course of the Festival, five young artists from different artistic disciplines are each creating an ongoing narration in one Instagram post a day. Together, they will generate a multidisciplinary quest along the late Stefan Banz’s phrase “What if empathy was more valuable than love?”.
Additionally each of the five artists will present an installation at BaseCamp PopUp.
